In General
Why the project is called Abstract?
We aim to provide a solution to the general problem of accounting. To achieve this ambitious goal we use a domain model abstraction which is very distant from first impression of accounting tasks.
Is it any different from other accounting packages?
We definitely think so. Read Abstract description to see how it may help you achieve your goals.
Can I try it?
The first alpha was released on January 3, 2008.
The latest version is currently 0.0.2 released on February 28, 2008. It is available for download.
Documentation
Where is user documentation?
Current version is covered in the User Manual. Step-by-step tutorial demonstrates with screenshots, how Abstract handles operations of a trading company.
If you have any questions, please mail them to abstract-main@lists.sourceforge.net, we will gladly answer.
Where is technical documentation?
Abstract is developed using Extreme Programming (XP). The test suite plays the role of documentation for source code. If the purpose of certain piece of code is not obvious, feel free to remove it, and build Abstract without it to see which tests will fail. If all tests still pass, you have found a bug.
If the above technique is not enough in your case, please file a bug against knowledge base/docs component in Abstract Issue tracker.
Participation
Why do I join?

And last, but not least, you will see how one of the largest open-source projects works (I mean mozilla, of course).
